The daytime conference will be held in the Ellen Wilkinson Training Room, School of Arts, Languages & Cultures, University of Manchester.

The Ellen Wilkinson Building is no. 77 on the campus map. It’s behind the Academy, just off Oxford Rd. The closest bus-stops, coming from the city centre, are outside Kro Bar, and, heading back to town, outside the Student’s Union. The bus-ride from the centre is five to ten minutes. The nearest train statin is Oxford Road; the campus is fifteen minutes walk from there.

The University has public car-parking facilities (paid) at Booth Street West and Charles Street, and plenty of free cycle-parking throughout the campus, including outside Ellen Wilkinson itself.

See here for full travel details for the University of Manchester.

The free evening reading with Susan Barker will happen at the John Rylands Library, Deansgate, M3 3EH. Full travel details here. The Library is in the city centre, about half an hour’s walk from the University: weather-dependent, we will likely all walk down there together. If you would rather not walk, while there is no door-to-door bus-route, many of the buses on the Oxford Road corridor will bring you as far as Albert Square, which is a five-minute walk from the Library.

If you would like to attend dinner after the reading (8pm at La Viña tapas restaurant on Deansgate), please book a place on our registration page and let us know if you have any special dietary requirements.
